ADVANTAGES OF HEAT/THERMAL INSULATION (EIFS)

  • SIMPLIFICATION AND REDUCTION OF TIME

The installation of a SATE is carried out trying to minimize the inconvenience for the users in the interior of their homes (Dust, elimination of debris, simplification of the phases of elaboration and reduction of the times, less than in a conventional work.)

  • ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

By not dispersing pollutants, not containing environmentally harmful substances , recycling and reducing energy losses.

  • REVALUATION OF THE PROPERTY

The system revalues the building economically, much more than the simple restitution of the facade.

  • ECONOMIC SAVING

The EIFS system reduces heat losses in winter and cold in summer, turning this into an ENERGY SAVING as it reduces the energy consumption needed to heat and cool the house, by up to 45%.

  • PRESERVATION OF THE INTERIOR LIVING SPACE

This system does NOT reduce the interior living space in homes/houses/flats.

  • ENERGY SAVING

Against heat: Reduces the need for cold air conditioning inside the house, as it hinders the passage of heat from the outside to the inside.

Against the cold: Reduces heat loss from the interior of the building and reduces thermal bridges, which leads to not being so necessary heating inside the house.

How did this system come about?

As societies progressed, they became more demanding, demanding protective measures in the buildings in which they lived or worked, safety requirements, or the fire behaviour of the materials.

Once their demands for protection had been met, the demands for comfort appeared in the more developed societies and the birth of thermal or acoustic comfort systems took place.

Then when energy consumption became a problem, thermal insulation also took on the role of contributing to energy saving.

In this context appeared in Sweden in 1940 the SATE and in the 50s were extended to Germany and Switzerland, it was mainly the Central European countries. those who, having an ageing housing stock and more shortage of land in the interior of the cities, needed rehabilitation and opted for this system to be suitable to adapt to buildings already built and to the weather.

In the Latin countries, the entry was later due on the one hand, to the fact that the concern was more in the ventilation to protect from the heat than in the isolation, erroneous belief, because the isolation isolates us also from the heat; and on the other that until relatively few years ago not much effort was devoted to the rehabilitation of the buildings.

Nowadays, as we talk so much about sustainability, thermal insulation plays an increasingly prominent role in the reduction of CO2 emissions; in addition, the economic savings that are required to adapt the facades to the demands of the “thermal envelope” is around 20%.

Concept

EIFS are systems of thermal insulation by the exterior, consisting of a prefabricated insulating panel, adhered to the wall, whose usual fixation is with adhesive and mechanical fixationnica.

TECHNICAL FEATURES/DETAILS

REDUCTION OF THERMALS FLUCTUATIONS/VARIATIONS

One of the main causes of cracks/rifts in the facades is the thermal oscillations to which the materials are exposed due to climatic or abrupt temperature changes.

The placement of the insulator on the outside limits the thermal breaks in all the materials located behind the insulator. Maintains the outer shell and structure of the building stable, contributing to the maintenance of building materials over time and preventing degradation caused by temperature oscillations: cracks, fissures, water infiltrations, disintegration phenomena, stains, molds…

REDUCTION OF THERMAL BRIDGES

Thermal bridges affect both the risk of condensation and the loss of heating or cooling. With the SATE system, this risk is virtually eliminated.
